For publishers

Your coverage, in front of the fans who care most

DIScovery News is an aggregator built to send readers to you — full attribution on every card, direct links to your pages, and credit when you break the story.

Why publishers work with DIScovery News

Readers land on your site

Tapping a story opens your page in an in-app browser — your design, your ads, your analytics, your subscription prompts. DIScovery News never republishes your articles from its servers.

Credit where it's due

Every card carries your outlet's name, logo, and a timestamp. When several outlets cover one story, the earliest report leads the stack — with a visible "Broke this story" credit.

A light-touch crawler

Content comes only from the feeds you already publish. The crawler identifies itself honestly and uses conditional requests, so an unchanged feed costs you almost nothing to serve.

User agent: PhoenixAggregator

How aggregation works

How does DIScovery News gather content?

From the feeds you already publish: your site's RSS or Atom feed, your YouTube channel, or your podcast feed. Items are normalized, de-duplicated, sorted by park and topic, and grouped with other outlets' coverage of the same story. Nothing is scraped from your pages, and nothing behind a paywall or login is touched — if it isn't in your feed, it isn't in the app.

What exactly appears in the app?

What your feed provides: the headline, your summary or excerpt, your artwork, and always your outlet's name, logo, and publish time. Tapping the card opens your page. There's no anonymous "content" view — attribution is part of the design system, on every card, in every feed.

Do readers actually visit my site?

Yes — that's the model. Story taps load your page in an in-app browser: your layout, your ads, your analytics, and your subscription prompts all work exactly as they do in Safari.

News+ subscribers can choose a Reader view, which reformats the page they've already navigated to on their own device — the same way Safari Reader does. DIScovery News doesn't republish your article text from its servers.

How are videos and podcasts handled?

Videos play through the official YouTube embed, so views, watch time, and monetization count exactly as they do on your channel. If you've disabled embedding for a video, the app respects it and links out instead.

Podcasts stream — and download — directly from your own feed's hosting, so every play shows up in your podcast analytics like any other app, and your dynamically inserted ads ride along untouched.

How often is my feed checked? Will it burden my servers?

Feeds are polled about every couple of minutes so breaking news lands fast — but always with conditional requests (ETag / Last-Modified), so an unchanged feed answers with a tiny 304 and costs you almost nothing. The crawler identifies itself honestly as PhoenixAggregator rather than pretending to be a browser. If you'd like a slower cadence for your feed, just ask.

How are feeds ordered?

Ranking blends how fresh a story is with how readers engage — opens, plus each signed-in reader's own follows and votes. A diversity rule keeps any single outlet from crowding the feed, and when a story is covered by many outlets, the earliest report leads the cluster with a "Broke this story" credit. Being first genuinely matters here.

Getting listed (and staying in control)

How do I get my site, channel, or show added?

Email hello@monorailnews.com with a link to your feed, channel, or show — that's genuinely all it takes. Readers also request outlets from inside the app, and those requests shape the catalog too.

What's the Official badge?

First-party outlets — a brand's own blog or channel — carry an Official badge so readers can tell a company announcement from independent reporting at a glance. The badge is rendered in the app's own iconography, never in a brand's artwork, so it marks provenance without borrowing anyone's identity.

A story is wrong or outdated — how do corrections flow?

The app mirrors your feed: update or retract the item there and the change flows through on the next poll, within a few minutes. For anything urgent — a story that needs to disappear right now — email us and we'll remove it directly.

How do I opt out?

Email hello@monorailnews.com and we'll deactivate your source promptly — your feed stops being polled and your stories leave the app. No forms, no friction, no hard feelings.

Do you offer sponsorships or partnerships?

There are a small number of sponsored placements in the app, and they're always labeled as such — sponsorship never masquerades as news. If you'd like to talk about a placement or a deeper partnership, say hello at hello@monorailnews.com.
